What should happen after a lead misses your call?

Design a missed-call follow-up that acknowledges the inquiry, uses appropriate channels and avoids repeated interviews.

Do not assume an answered call reached the person

Carriers and voice services report technical call outcomes. A voicemail greeting or call-screening system can still appear as an answered call. Use available detection, transcript evidence and human review together. Never count an automated greeting as completed intake.

Send a useful next step

A short message should identify the business and explain why it is reaching out. Give the person a simple way to respond. Avoid sending a long intake questionnaire immediately or claiming a prior conversation that never happened. Use only channels for which the business has the necessary permission.

Respect WhatsApp’s opening rules

A business-initiated message outside the service window normally requires an approved template. Approval does not guarantee delivery: recipient availability, account status and provider restrictions still apply. Keep an appropriate alternative channel in the plan rather than retrying a rejected message without a limit.

Change the plan when the person replies

If the person answers later, continue from their response instead of replaying the missed-call sequence. Ask about language or channel preference when it is unknown. Preserve answers already given, clarify conflicts and make the remaining questions easy to complete.
